40 Boko Haram suspects attack DSS Office in Lokoja


Some Suspected Boko Haram members numbering about forty, attack the Department of State Service, DSS along Zone Eight Lokoja.

The incident which happened in the early hours of today September 26, 2015 threw many residents and passers-bye to scamper for safety.

Eyewitness account revealed that, the suspected hoodlums arrived at the venue of their mission shooting sporadically, as explosion of device sound were noticed during their operations

Our Correspondent who was at the scene of the incident, report that, there was an exchange of gunfire between combined security forces such as the Police, DSS and Nigeria Military in a bid to repel the attack.

It was also gathered that, the suspects as part of effort to achieve their aim, used a long truck to cross the main road which disrupted the movement of vehicle in areas connecting the Central Bank of Nigeria Office, Zone 8 Police Headquarter, Lokoja New Stadium, State House of Assembly and High Court of Justice.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relation Officer, ASP William Ovye Aya said the incident which happened at about 10:30am lasted for over two hours.

ASP Aya maintained that, through combined effort from the Military, Police and DSS, the attack was repelled.

The Force spokesperson also confirmed the killing of three of the suspected Boko Haram members during the operation adding that, no arrest has been made.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the Department of State Service as at the time of this report proved abortive.

In another development, the Kogi State Police Command will brief the press on the latest development concerning the attack in the State Capital.

It will be recalled that, the State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu last week paraded 56 Boko Haram suspects who were arrested in Obajana for their alleged involvement in various crimes and criminality in the State.
