Why I defected from the PDP to the ruling APC-Delta Ex-Commissioner
Hon. Misan Ukubeyinje

Former Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and then Lands, Surveys and Urban Development in the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan administration, Hon. Misan Ukubeyinje has stated that pressure from the governor, Itsekiris and politicians from his constituency forced him into the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and has to leave now that there is no more pressure from any group to join the progressives.

Speaking against the background of allegations from the PDP State Chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor that he left out of frustration and inability to get appointed into any political office in the present Governor Okowa’s administration, he maintained that he left the PDP in the wake of new appointment by Governor Okowa, saying that appointments are still on-going in the State with the Governor having appointed over 300 persons into office since inception till date.

The two time House of Assembly Member and two time Commissioner said his credibility, integrity, credentials, political sagacity and intelligence are what stands him out for appointment and not because he goes out there to lobby anybody for any positions, saying that the Delta State PDP Chairman is a political neophyte that was handpicked by the former Chairman, Chief Tony Nwaboshi who is his political mentor and was merely a political jobber with experience at all. He has never contested any elections in the state, so does not know and have what it takes to contest elections and win on the political terrain.

“Having served as a legislator, Commissioner Agriculture and later Lands, Surveys and Urban Development to the end of the Uduaghan administration, no reasonable politician can tell me I left the PDP out of frustration”, he stated noting that with the first steps taken by Governor Okowa and the ways he goes about making his appointment, he knew the PDP has lost its focus and it is time to quit as a progressive to join the forces of change at the centre.

He stated that he wants to be a catalyst of change from the PDP to APC in Delta State in the next election so that the desired dividend of change would cascade down from the centre to Delta state.

Mr. Ukubeyinje, a Warri based legal practitioner insist that the impending re-run facing the PDP in the State is the driving force behind the numerous political appointment by Governor Okowa even as he reveals that these plethora of appointees have not being paid a dime till date, saying that they are being appointed to fight for the success of the PDP in the event of a re-run.
