Rescuers taking one of the victims from the collapsed building

The multibillion naira modern hospital complex embarked upon by the Edo State government at Central hospital Benin has collapsed, leaving the contract supervisor who is a foreigner dead, while others are seriously injured.

The news came as a rude shock to the Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who is seeking re-election as governor in the state. Fresh Angle gathered that about six people were rescued from the collapsed building.

Some workers on site who spoke to Our Benin City Correspondent said the name of the construction company is C.N.I and they attributed the cause of the collapse to the failure of a crane carrying building materials to the fifth floor.

Our Benin City Correspondent reports that Edo State government has ordered stoppage of work at the site pending the outcome of investigation to determine the cause of the building collapse.
