Following the increasing cases of cancer in Nigeria and the perception that it cannot be treated within the country, Chairman of Delta State Chapter of Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners in Nigeria, AGPMPN, Dr. Luckys, Okparanyote and the Head Manager, Health Care Services International of Apollo Hospitals, India, Abubakkar Siddique have declared that Cancer as well as Neurological disease can be treated in Warri, Delta State.
The declaration was made at a two day “free medical mission consultation for all cases of Cancer and Neurological disorders” in Warri, Delta State held Monday November 23 and 24.
The Delta State AGPMPN Chairman who is also The Medical Director of Warri based Capitol Hill Clinic/Hospital opined that as a result of ignorance and poverty, most people do not know that “they can be treated free of charge if symptoms of Cancer and Neurological diseases are detected early”.
In his remark, The Head Manager, Health Care Services International of Apollo Hospitals, India, Abubakkar Siddique noted that the group has 64 hospitals in India and four in other countries, just as he quipped that Nigeria is the best market for the group’s medical programme.
According to him, Apollo hospitals are poised to take Capitol Hill Clinic/Hospital to greater medical heights “in the area of continuous medical/surgical camp through tele health services, training and development programmes”.
A Neuroscientist from Indian, Prof. Krishna K.N. while describing medical cases he saw in Delta State as almost same to that of India, noted that “if India and African countries work together, it will be medically rewarding”.
A Senior Consultant and Oncologist, Dr. Anil Kamath stated that most Cancer related diseases spread between breast for female and prostrate for male.
According to him, three treatments to Cancer are Surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiation.
