Robbery suspect, Police die after gun duel with SARS at marriage ceremony


 A wanted unidentified armed robbery suspect and a ‘Mobile Police man’ have died after engaging a combined team of Federal and Delta Command SARS operatives in a gun duel at a marriage ceremony in Sapele, Delta State, Fresh Angle International has learned.

The combined team acting on a tip off traced the wanted robbery kingpin to the marriage ceremony, but on sighting the operatives, the suspect in a bid to evade arrest allegedly ordered two armed men dressed in Mobile Police uniform with him to open fire on the SARS operatives.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP. Celestina Kalu, during the ensuing gun battle, the suspect and one of the men in uniform were hit by bullet and they were arrested. The statement added that the robbery suspect and his injured uniform Orderly “gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital”.

Meanwhile, the DPO of Okpanam Division recently mobilized to the scene of a kidnap attempt in Obodogba-Okpanam area of Asaba, Delta State Capital and rescued the kidnap victim, one Samuel Ofolue.

He was reportedly rescued with injuries on his head and left hand following the shoot-out that ensued between the Police and three armed men who tried to force him into a waiting car.
