Renowned educationist and Principal Merit Grade (Retired) Prince Churchil Owamiyemi Oki says the reason why serving school principals have not been appointed Ministers “is because they distance themselves from leaders in government”, even as he advised principals to work with the dictates of the Ministry of Education.

Prince Churchil Oki made the assertion in Warri while delivering a good-will message at the monthly State Wing Executive Council Meeting of The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS held in Warri by the Warri South Chapter of the Confederation.

He enjoined school principals to have good dress sense and ensure they are present at the assembly ground, saying it is an avenue to exercise their authority.

The Delta State President of ANCOPSS, Mr. Brisibe in a remark promised that the challenge of examination malpractice in both primary and secondary schools will be tackled headlong.

The Chief Inspector of Education for Warri South Local Government, Dr. , Dr. M. E. Emeshili in a keynote address disclosed that the Ministry has concluded plans to give award to four teachers later this year for their hard-work and admonished teachers to brace up to the challenges of Information Communication Technology, insisting that the era of paper and pen has elapsed.

Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Warri South Chapter, Comrade Ikuejawa Ishmeal in a good-will message canvassed for synergy between the NUT and ANCOPSS “in the struggle to confront headlong the myriad of problems facing the education industry”.

In her welcome address, the Chairman of ANCOPSS, Warri South Local Government Chapter, Madam Tuedor E.O. identified poor infrastructural facilities, non-availability of fund, abrupt suspension of principals from office, poor record keeping of teachers in core subject areas as some of the challenges facing the educational sector in the country.
