There are growing speculations that the new Olu of Warri, Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Emiko, whose coronation is billed to take place Saturday December 12, 2015 has disclosed that he will be residing more at the newly reconstructed Olu of Warri Palace in Ode Itsekiri, the ancestral home of Itsekiris, which is in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.

The new monarch allegedly promised to alternate his residency at the Palace in Ode Itsekiri and the ultra modern palace in Ajamimogha/Ugbori, Warri, with a promise to spend more time at Ode Itsekiri.

The speculation was already eliciting excitement among Itsekiris worldwide because they view the idea as a sure way of guaranteeing the ongoing infrastructural and socio-economic developments that has been witnessed at the Itsekiri ancestral home since the Warri Traditional Council announced the demise of the transited Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II and subsequently unveiled Prince Godfrey Ikenwoli Emiko as the Olu of Warri designate.

Some Itsekiris are however of the view that the New Olu of Warri residing more at the Palace in Ode Itsekiri will serve more disadvantage than the expected infrastructural development in the Itsekiri ancient town

It would be recalled that the transited Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II ruled and reigned in Warri urban, just as the palace in Ode Itsekiri with vital historical monuments was completely razed down by Ijaws during the infamous Warri crisis, which left in its wake several loss of lives as well as properties.
