The last may not have been heard regarding the ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over the 13 billion naira allegedly paid to some leaders of Gbaramatu community by NIMASA for the acquisition of land for Nigeria Maritime University, NMU, as leaders of an Itsekiri community (Omadino) in Warri South Local Government Area were said to be making frantic move to petition the Anti Graft Agency over claim of being “true owners” of the contentious community where the NMU is sited.
Fresh Angle International gathered from Chairman of Omadino Elders’ Council, Elder O.D. Edukugho and President of Omadino Employment and Development Association, OEDA, Prince Metsese Diden that people of the oil rich Omadino community were shocked by the 13 billion naira reportedly paid by NIMASA to some leaders of Gbaramatu for a land “that the Supreme Court early 2015 decided in a case that the true owner is Omadino”.
While urging the “EFCC to unravel the mystery surrounding the acquisition of the parcel of land”, Elder O.D. Edukugho noted, “Omadino community did not receive a dime for the transaction even when it is known to the Federal Government that the entire land space is a property of Omadino community, with its real name called Okerenghigho”.
He wondered why some people would “take undue advantage of having their kinsmen in government to perpetuate the evil grabbing and illegal appropriation of other peoples’ land without the express permission of the true owners of such land”.
President of Omadino Employment and Development Association, OEDA, the umbrella body of youths of Omadino, commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption and enjoined the Federal government to investigate the 13 billion naira land acquisition fraud to a logical conclusion.
It would be recalled that the Anti Graft Agency last week invited Ex-Militant, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo AKA Tompolo to appear at its office tomorrow, December 17, 2015 regarding the 13 billion payment or face being declared wanted.
