One Atabure Agbogho, a 23-year old resident of Ovie Palace Road, Effurun in Delta State has been stabbed to death, Fresh Angle International has learned.
He was reportedly stabbed on his neck by a certain Junior Benson during a fight along Ovie Palace Road in Effurun at Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State at about 12:00 hours six days ago.
The report disclosed that the late Atabure Agbogho died at the Ekpan General Hospital where he was rushed to for treatment.
The Police at Ebrumede Division, also in Uvwie Local Government Area subsequently arrested the suspect, Junior Benson following a report by a 30-year old elder brother of the late Agbogho, Ejvo Atabure.
According to a Statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, “preliminary enquires revealed that the fight was between two rival cult groups”.
Meanwhile, the deceased has been deposited at Ekpan General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and investigation was ongoing as at the time of this report to unravel other faces behind the cult groups.
In another development, “the general public is hereby informed that the Delta State Police Command has banned all forms of public procession/protest in all parts of the State with immediate effect. This decision has been taken in order to safe guard public safety.
Any group, unions, associations or individuals caught violating this directive will be severely sanctioned according to the law irrespective of the status of such groups, unions or individuals. Law abiding citizens are advised to go about their lawful businesses and report any person(s), unions or associations trying to breach public peace promptly to the police or other security agencies.
However, groups, unions or associations wishing to carry out peaceful procession are advised to seek police protection.
Finally, the Police Command has reinvigorated its security apparatus to ensure the safety of all law abiding residents of the state and public utilities in the New Year while soliciting the continuous support of good spirited members of the public in the battle against criminals”.
