Filling Stations in Warri and Agbarho in Delta State have defied the directive by the Federal Government to sell a litre of Petrol for N86.50k with effect from January 1, 2016, Fresh Angle International investigation reveals.

Our Correspondent who visited Fomas Marine LTD and Pemok Filling Station at Ogunu Road, Warri, Total Filling Station, NNPC Filling Station as well as Asolyn Filling Station, all in Airport Road, Warri on Monday January 4, 2016, reports that there was no sale of petroleum products, while SIMCO Filling Station and others along the Agbarho - Ughelli Expressway displayed the approved price of N86.50k per litre, but were actually selling between N120 to N130 per litre.

Most of the filling stations in Warri were selling at N130, even as customers lamented the hike in petroleum price and the artificial scarcity of the product.

Some commercial drivers who spoke to Our Correspondent on condition of anonymity alleged that DPR Officials have been settled hence they ignored the sharp practices of the defaulting filling stations.

In an exclusive chat with Fresh Angle International in Warri, the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC vowed to seal any Filling Station selling above the approved price.

The Head of Public Affairs Unit, DPR Warri, Mr. Agusa Goddey, stated that officials of DPR monitored compliance during the yuletide and made public, mobile contacts for customers to report stations that were engaged in sharp practices.

Mr. Agusa declared that defaulting filling stations will pay N100,000.00 (one hundred thousand naira) fine for selling above the regulated price, while those that adjusted their pump to under-dispense product will also pay the same amount.

According to him, petroleum marketers that divert products will pay N500,000.00 (five hundred thousand naira) fine.
