How scratch of suspended Uvwie Council Chairman’s car led to massive looting of Delta City Mall

Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report that the massive looting of sophisticated mobile phones, electronics, ipads, clothes and other valuables running into several millions of naira by scores of suspected Uvwie youths  from the multi billion naira Delta City Mall at about mid-day, Friday January 8, 2016, was triggered by an alleged scratch of the car of suspended Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Hon. Henry Baro Minabonware at the Warri-Effurun Express Road end of Delta City Mall by a truck.

Eye witnesses claimed that immediately the truck driver scratched the embattled Uvwie Council Chairman’s car, he allegedly ordered two boys inside the car with him to beat up the driver of the truck.

According to the eye witnesses, a uniformed security man attached to the Delta City Mall, popularly called Shoprite who noticed the molestation of the truck driver came to the scene, ostensibly to broker peace. But Hon. Baro’s two loyal youths turned the heat on the security man and he immediately ran into the Delta City Mall through one of the entry points.

It was while he was being chased into the Delta City Mall by the youths that scores of other Uvwie youths allegedly invaded the multi billion naira Delta City Mall, destroying several properties and looting electronics as well as other gadgets valued at millions of naira.

The Delta City Mall Manager, Sola Oni while speaking to newsmen on the development, stated that there was no case of robbery but vandalism by hoodlums.

Another Management staff of the shopping complex that identified himself simply as Mr. Akume conducted Newsmen round the vandalized properties and cautioned the hoodlums not to take the law into their hands.

Efforts to speak to Hon. Baro Minabonwanre via mobile phone by newsmen were unsuccessful, even as speculations were rife that the suspended Uvwie Council Boss was instrumental to the idea and establishment of Delta City Mall/Shoprite at the Effurun Round-About in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.
