A NON-VIOLENT STRATEGY FOR NEW ERA

When we believe in Itsekiri Nation and every of her citizens, a fight, pain and tragedy before anyone should be a concern to everyone of us, from the Palace down to the least Itsekiri son or daughter.

It will be surprising to know what a few that truly believe in Itsekiri can produce, such as a reaction from our Villages to Communities, from Communities to Cities, from Cities to Overseas, from Overseas to the Palace of the Olu of Warri, and from the Palace to the Creator of Heaven and earth, who created us all in Love and to fulfill our Destiny here on earth.

“It is time for national reconciliation, for the birth of a new Itsekiri Nation”.

If we live in love and carefully organized ourselves around well-defined Issues, then they represent the power which Victor Hugo phrased as the most powerful force in the world "an idea whose time has come". Believe to denounce the past and announce that the time has come for love in totality, with Unity of purpose, putting aside greed, selfishness, backbiting, hatred, propaganda and all forms of Impunity, in the birth of a new era. When the idea is a sound one, the cause is a just one, and the demonstration is a righteous one, true change will be forthcoming. But if the conditions of love and unity of purpose are not present, the power for true change is missing also.

Some of my personal sufferings over the last few years have also served to shape my thinking. I always hesitate to mention these experiences for fear of conveying the wrong impression. My personal trials have also taught me the value of undermined suffering. I was a victim of different police cells and awaiting trial in Okere federal prison.

 As my suffering mounted I realized that there were two ways to that I could relate to my situation: either to react with bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into creative force to build a nation that would be of interest to everyone of us.

We are cruising the boat together, some of us are in VIP's, some in business class, some in economy, we have captains, engineers and boat attendance. We are all at risks if the boat is sinking.

We should recognize the necessity for replacing our suffering into virtue, turning our pain into gain, our fortunes into kindness amongst one another. I lived the past few years to know suffering can only give birth to bitterness or creativity.

The new Itsekiri should focus on the revolution of the mind. Our minds are battle ground. It is in the mind the greatest place of conflict is. A lot of Itsekiri citizens have troubles with their minds. You can change everything outwardly, but nothing inwardly changed. Without the renewal of the mind same situation will perpetrate itself over and over again.

Another focus should be getting into, not overthrowing. You have to be part of the system before you can effect change. Everyone wants a share of Itsekiri common wealth, but you will miss it! if we do not define what your share is. Do you want a share of the common wealth or you want policies that will sustain you and  generations after you?

It is time to implement policies inline with the mission statement of Ogiame Ikenwoli. The Olu of Warri.

We know it well that none of us acting alone can achieve success, it is therefore time for national reconciliation. All Itsekiri Sons and daughters should be part of the building up of this new era, we need to start thinking outside the box, a better and  developed Nation should be first in our hearts. The Palace and our representatives needs our Support.

There are opportunities everywhere, we should not put all our hopes on Leaders or wait to become a leader in Itsekiri before you can add your own values. We should be the change we want to see in Itsekiri.

In conclusion: our most powerful nonviolent strategy in this new era, should focus on the expected and also our most demanding "is organization" that will produce true change. We must organize to work together in units of power in other to influence meaningful projects, development and favour to Itsekiri Nation from all works of life. These units might be political, as in the case of political parties.  An economic units such as groups that will focus on rebranding Itsekiri as a whole, and also units groups that will be searching for employment and other opportunities around the world for the benefit of Itsekiri Nation. This can only be possible with Love, Peace and Unity.

Long live Ogiame Ikenwoli. 
Long live Warri Kingdom.
