Officers of the Nigerian Army and Police detailed to secure the entrance of Warri Refining and Petrochemicals Company, WRPC at about 9:30am Wednesday January 20, 2016 shot severally into the air to disperse scores of Ekpan youths, who purportedly threatened to burn the refinery, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.
The Army later arrested five of the youths and detained them at the Army Base by the Refinery entrance.
The youths whose mission was not exactly clear as at the time of this report, were said to be heading towards the WRPC with cutlasses, leaves and dagger, thus causing traffic congestion and panic, when the security officials fired shots into the air to disperse them, before motorists and passersby were able to pass through the busy Shaguolo Junction.
Our Correspondent reports that filling stations and shops in the area had to shut down temporarily before re-opening as soon as the dust settled.
It was speculated that the youths marched to the WRPC axis to get attention for a suppose internal community issue.
Your soaring tabloid, Fresh Angle International had exclusively report yesterday that there was shooting for about five minutes in the Ekpan Area, close to the Flyover leading to the WRPC.
