NNPC/Chevron, Agbami parties gift model classrooms, other facilities to Erejuwa Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri

The NNPC / Chevron Nigeria Limited, with its Agbami parties, Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited (A Chevron Company) on Friday November 25, handed over a model block of six classrooms, equipped with ultra-modern teaching and learning facilities, to Erejuwa Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri (Big Warri) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

The Director, Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited, Bobby Hulett, while handing over the well-equipped educational facilities to the Delta State government, commended the Delta State government for its partnership, saying it contributed to the successful execution of the project.

 

Highlights of the handover ceremony

Our Senior Correspondent, reports that Mr. Hulett, reiterated the resolve of Agbami Parties to improving the quality of education in schools as well as adding value beyond societies where they operate. 

 

The Chevron Agbami parties Deepwater Petroleum Limited Boss, who was represented at the ceremony by the Senior Government Affairs Advisor and Community Engagement Coordinator, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr. Happy Apai, stated that Agbami parties have added value to the lives of Nigerians in the areas of education, health and economic development, through ongoing and completed projects across the country.

 

He mentioned science laboratories, model blocks of classroom and chest clinics, as some of the valuable projects donated by the company.

 

Hulett, stated: "For us at Agbami, we believe in the old axiom that knowledge is power. It is key to creating a productive society. As our population continues to increase, so do our needs. We believe a strong and efficient workforce of educated people, will provide the necessary services needed for individual and social growth.

 

"The Agbami Parties have in addition, instituted specialized educational scholarship programs in support of healthy manpower development in Nigeria, through targeted support for medical, nursing, laboratory sciences and engineering students. And we are happy that 2,767 of our students in Delta State, have benefited from this scholarship scheme.

 

"We are confident that the project we are commissioning today, will serve as a springboard for several students to further their education and develop into critical manpower assets for our nation.

Representative of Bala Wanti, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of the NNPC Limited Upstream Investment Management Services Limited, NUIMS, Mrs. Edith Olubunmi Lawson, described the projects commissioned as ‘Critical Multipurpose Erejuwa Grammar School Complex’, charging the school management as well as students to make good use of the facilities.

 

Bala Wanti, appreciated Chevron Nigeria Limited and their partners in OML 132 for delivering the projects to the community.

 

The Chief Operating Officer of Brownhill Investment Company Limited, Bemigho Wagbatsoma, representative of the company that handled the projects, commended Chevron Nigeria Limited for the opportunity of being part of the company’s efforts at developing the host community and adding value to education in the area.

 

Wagbatsoma, explained that the model block of six classrooms, donated by the NNPC / Chevron Nigeria Limited, with its Agbami parties, Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited, comprises six learning classrooms, library, laboratory, well-furnished Principal Office, sick bay, staff room, 100KVA generator and toilet facilities.

 

He urged the management, staff and students of Erejuwa Grammar School, to protect the school complex and its equipment, disclosing that Brownhill Investment Company Limited, has begun the construction of a 95-meter by 60-meter football pitch at Erejuwa Grammar School, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to the school.

Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, who represented Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, commended the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited for the projects and the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, “for always playing his fatherly role in settling disputes among his subjects and companies operating in his domain”.

 

Chief Amgbaduba charged the management, staff and students of the school, to put the facilities to good use, in order to get more from the oil and gas major.

 

Chairman of Ode-Itsekiri Community, Tony Odongharo, praised Chevron Nigeria Limited for the successful execution and handover of the projects, assuring that the facilities will be put to judicious use.  

 

The Principal of Erejuwa Grammar School, Mrs. Ijei Toritseju, expressed joy that the projects were commissioned under her stay as head of the school, commending the donors for what she described as a world class learning academic facilities.

The Member Representing Warri South Constituency I in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Uroye, also applauded Chevron Nigeria Limited for the good job, cautioning students of Erejuwa Grammar School against vandalizing the facilities.
