Warri North Legislative Arm rubbishes report of alleged attack on Council Chairman

The leadership of Warri North Local Government Legislative Arm, has rubbished an online report that 15 of its members, allegedly attacked the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State, Hon. Smart Asekutu, on Sunday November 20 in Sapele, saying nothing of such happened.

Leader of Warri North Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Orunmatsoma Johnbull, who made the clarification Sunday December 11 during an exclusive telephone chat with Fresh Angle International, described members of the Council’s Legislative Arm as law abiding and peaceful.

 

Rt. Hon. Orunmatsoma Johnbull, explained: “The rumour going round that our Chairman, Hon. Smart Asekutu, was beaten up by some of our colleagues, is not true. Nothing of such happened, we don't have any issue with the Council Chairman, we are peace loving people”.

 

Media Assistant to Hon. Smart Asekutu, Mr. E. Saya, had equally noted in a statement: “Some members of the Legislative Arm of the Council (Councilors) paid a visit to the Council Chairman in his home in Sapele town, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta state, on Sunday morning (November 20) to clarify some issues.

 

“The Chairman had a similar meeting with the leadership of the Legislative Arm the previous day, rather than listening to the report of their leaders, another set of the Councilors came to the Chairman on Sunday morning for the same purpose.

 

“The State government approved the sum of N2 million few months ago to all Councilors in the 25 Local Government Councils for different Constituency projects in their various wards.

 

“When the money was yet to be released from Asaba, the Chairman used his discretion to disburse same from the Council treasury to the Councilors, pending the release, the Council Boss also used his discretion to increase the amount from N2 million to N3 million to enable the Councilors carry out meaningful jobs”.
