Youths of a certain riverine ‘Gbemu Community’, habited by Ijaws, close to Ughoton in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta state, have reportedly given the vigilantes at Ughoton Community, Monday December 26 (Boxing Day) to hand over those responsible for the murder of an Ijaw man, identified simply as Morison to them (Youths of Gbemu Community).
Recall that the said Ijaw man, refused to "settle" the vigilantes at Ughoton Community, when he carried his crude oil products (Suspected to have been siphoned illegally from a pipeline (s) through Ughoton, enroute the upland for delivery and he was allegedly murdered by Ughoton Vigilantes at his home in the said Gbemu Community on Friday December 16.
The Ughoton Vigilante, purportedly led by the chairman, allegedly mobilized to the neighbouring Ijaw community and killed the man, whose wife just gave birth to a baby.
Fresh Angle International had reported, Monday December 19 of growing anxiety among residents of Ughoton in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta state, following fears of possible reprisal from the neighbouring Ijaw community, as a result of the alleged murder of Morison.
Apparently infuriated by the murder of one of their own, some youths in the said Ijaw community, embalmed the corpse of Morison and took it to the home of father of chairman of Ughoton vigilante on Saturday December 17.
It was gathered that the corpse of Morison, was taken away yesterday, Monday December 19, by persons from Ughoton Community to an undisclosed mortuary.
