Security Consultant, Shola Mese traces origin of crime in Nigeria to single motherhood

A Security Consultant and founder of Shola Mese Foundation, Dr. (Dcn.) Shola Mese, has traced the origin of crime in Nigeria to single motherhood, saying single mothers have to be taken care of, in order to reduce crime in the society.

Fresh Angle International can report that Dr. Mese made the assertion Wednesday December 28 at the secretariat of his Foundation in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, shortly after receiving an Icon of Nigeria Youth and Humanitarian Services award from Nigeria Youth Alternative Council, NYAC.

Highlights of the award presentation;

The award, which is in the category of Chief Commandant of the Nigeria Youth, is the second highest award from NYAC and it is the first and last to be given, according to the President of NYAC, Icon Nixon Chukwuka Odimbu.

Whilst restating his passion for service to humanity, Dr. (Dcn.) Mese, who noted that his Foundation has so far graduated 600 youths in his skills training programmes, revealed: “While doing my work as a Security Consultant, I discovered that after interacting with most crime suspects, I found that most of them are not really happy going into crime. They don’t have people to talk to, by the time you talk to them, they feel sober after committing the crime. I don’t intend to be a politician one day. I believe that the best way to reduce crime and criminality in the society, is to help the youth, take care of elderly and take care of the mothers. We have more than enough single mothers in this country and if you find out today, the origin of crime is from same circle. 

“The single mothers have more of the challenges. Most of the youths (suspects) after being arrested, will tell you that they do it because of their mother. So, for you to reduce crime, take care of the single mothers.

“If you can empower their mother, their mother will hold their legs, if they have the intention of going out to commit crime. The most vulnerable as we speak, are the mothers. 

“If you give 10% of the money you spend on security vehicles, to this vulnerable, you will see that the crime rate will drop drastically and you will see that investors will start coming on their own. 

 “I don’t rely on anybody to do my humanitarian service, whatever God puts in my hand, I give back to the society and it keeps increasing”.

“You are recognized today, not just as an icon of Nigeria youth, but in a category of Chief Commandant of the Nigeria Youth. You will be the first and last to be given this award”.

Rotn Ighomrore, spoke glowingly about the Dcn. Mese, recalling how he first met him in Effurun and how much he has impacted positively on the lives of youths and vulnerable, through his Foundation (Shola Mese Foundation).
