Warri South Local Government Council, has stepped - up work for the completion of a 100 - person capacity boat that will ferry students and pupils schooling at Ode - Itsekiri in Warri South Local Government Area, from their different riverine locations within that axis.
Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, who made the disclosure Friday January 27 in a statement, explained that the boat which has been under construction, would be ready in less than two weeks, saying apart from the students and pupils schooling at Ode - Itsekiri, the boat would also accommodate teaching and non - teaching staff as well as corps members deployed to the schools in Ode - Itsekiri.
Whist emphasizing that his administration has always prioritized the development of education as evident in the renovation of some dilapidated school buildings in Warri and strengthening of working relationship with the Warri South Chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers, the Warri South Council Boss, said efforts were ongoing to accelerate infrastructural development in public schools within the council area.
He assured that the boat to be donated, will be duly maintained by the council in - line with the sustainable development policy of his administration.
