Four Days to Polls: Itsekiri Interest Group endorses Ekpoto for Warri Fed. Constituency Seat

Exactly four days to the Presidential and National Assembly elections fixed for Saturday February 25, the Itsekiri Interest Group, IIG, has endorsed the All Progressives Congress, APC Candidate for Warri Federal Constituency, Mr. Ekpoto Ekpoto Emmanuel, hinging their decision on: “His various degrees, his investment in Warri City (Warri Community Radio) and his Consultancy Services with the Legislative Arm of Government, both within and Outside Nigeria.”

The affirmation of Ekpoto, which was contained in an electronic statement sent to Fresh Angle International this evening, Tuesday February 21, explained: “Over the last 24 years, Itsekiri has been deprived of a voice in the National Assembly and with just one available seat in Warri Federal Constituency and no Itsekiri in the Senate for over 35 years, it has become a serious issue that goes beyond party affiliation in deciding a candidate to represent this delicate constituency.”

The statement, e-signed by the Chairman and Legal Advisor of Itsekiri Interest Group, Mr. Gbubemi Awala and Barr. Fredrick Egbe, respectively, asserted: “Warri Federal Constituency is known for presenting candidates with a high level of Educational Qualification, like Hon (Barr) Olivia Agbajoh and Hon (Barr) Temi Harriman. No wonder Hon Olivia Agbajoh was able to champion the siting of a Naval Base in Warri (NNS Umalokun) within a very short time in office.

“After careful analysis, the Itsekiri Interest Group, decided to endorse a candidate with high educational qualifications, good Public Relations, a source of income outside politics, and someone with exposure to the running of the activities of the National Assembly.

“Itsekiri Nation, cannot afford to be deprived of having a voice again with the recent betrayal by the Federal government in appointing an Itsekiri man as the Chairman of the NDDC, even when Law, equity, fairness and Justice favour the course.

“The Itsekiri Interest Group, promises to publish the quarterly report of Mr. Ekpoto Emmanuel Ekpoto, if elected to represent Warri Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.”
