Developing: NNPC staff goes on strike

Business

Speculations are rife that staffers of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC in the early hours of today, Wednesday March 9 embarked on indefinite strike.

It could not be ascertained as at the time of this report if the sudden industrial action has anything to do with the unbundling of NNPC into different companies by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.

The House of Representatives at its plenary Tuesday March 8 declared the unbundling of NNPC by the Minister is unconstitutional, saying it must undergo legislative approval and stakeholders are of the view that the unbundling may affect renewed move to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB.

Meanwhile, Fresh Angle International can report that filling stations in Warri and Effurun now sell a litre of fuel for between N140 and N150 with fears mounting that the sudden strike by NNPC may worsen the situation.
