The National Publicity Secretary of Itsekiri Consultative Congress, ICC and Convener, Itsekiri Political Assembly, IPA, Edema Collins Oritsetimeyin, has described the victory of the Senator - Elect for Delta South, Joel Onowakpo Thomas as " illegitimately procured ", boasting that it " will be short - lived."
Edema, who is also the immediate past President of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, made the declaration in an electronic statement sent to Fresh Angle International midday today, Saturday March 25.
He asserted: "The 2023 General Elections may have come and gone but I wish to reassure the People of Delta South Senatorial District, especially those of Warri Federal Constituency, Burutu Federal Constituency, Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, and those from the Isoko Nation who voted massively for the PDP candidate - Hon Michael Diden (Ejele) that the election process is still ongoing and we will recover our stolen mandate at the Election Petition Tribunal when hearing commences.
"It is on record that we were massively robbed in Oleh by a man who is alleged to have collected $400,000 from the APC Gubernatorial Candidate and Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege but we are not perturbed because we know that the illegitimately procured victory will be short-lived.
"It is the turn of the Itsekiri Nation to produce the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, and we have it on record that Delta South electorates came out enmasse to deliver the mandate of Hon Michael Diden as Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District on February 25, 2023.
"We are not perturbed by the pyrrhic victory of the APC candidate because it will be upturned at the elections Tribunal sitting in Asaba soon."
