Following the recent signing of the Electricity Act 2023 by President Bola Tinubu, de-monopolizing Nigeria’s electricity value chain, NOGAPS Electricity Distribution Limited, has applied to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, “for grant of a license to operate an embedded power generation plant along Opolo - Elebele Road, Elebele, Ogbia Local Government, Bayelsa State.”

This Flagship Niger Delta Online Newspaper, understands that persons who have objections to the grant of the license, have been directed with effect from today, Friday June 24, to “send their written comments, clearly articulating the basis for any objection, in accordance with the provisions of NERC Application for Licenses Regulations 2010 and Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (Business Rules of the Commission) Regulations 2006 no later than 21 days of this publication to the Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Plot No 1387 Cadastral Zone A00, Central Business District, Abuja.”
Recall that the Electricity Act 2023: “Allows the De-monopolization Of Nigeria’s Electricity Generation, Transmission, and Distribution of Electricity at the National Level Empowers States, Companies and Individuals to Generate, Transmit and Distribute Electricity.”
