Gunmen kill Vigilante, injure two others in Kogi


 

Suspected gunmen, have killed a Vigilante Officer, identified as Mustapha in Ankpa Local government Area of Kogi state, Fresh Angle International can report.

 

It was gathered that, the gunmen who were fully armed with dangerous weapon, also shot two individuals, who sustained various degree of injuries.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the gunmen came with Toyota Hilux van and shot at their target, close to Ejeh Palace, 11pm on Saturday.

 

A resident of Ankpa town, Mallam Usman Abubakar, who claimed that the deceased Vigilante Officer, before his demise, was very prominent in his vicinity, told This Newspaper, that wife of the late Vigilante, recently put to bed.

 

Abubakar, said: "The deceased was found in his pool of blood. Before he could call for help, it was already late. This tragic incident has continued to trigger anger within Ankpa community. 

 

"The people here believe they have lost a gallant and courageous man, who always stood for the truth in our community. All they are clamouring for now is justice for the slain Vigilante Officer and improved security in Ankpa community". 

 

The two victims that sustained injuries according to an eyewitness, were receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital as at the time of this report

 

When the Contacted earlier today, Monday July 3, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Police Command, SP William Ovye Aya, said his office was yet to be communicated.

 

He promised to put a call through to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Ankpa, to get more information about the murder of Mustapha.

 

As at 4:21PM when this report was filed and published, Aya did not respond to text messages and calls by Our Kogi State Correspondent to that effect.
