Result falsification- We are heading for doom if this continues-University Don warns
Prof. Alewo John-Akubo

A University Don, Prof. Alewo John-Akubo, has warned that the rate at which some students are falsifying their results and engaging in sharp practices just to get recognition will spell doom for Nigeria Educational sector.

Speaking to journalists in Lokoja on Monday July 3, against the backdrop were a student was alleged to have falsify her Join Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) result, Prof John-Akubo fumed that if this is not urgently tackled, Nigeria education will be under siege.

It could be recalled that one Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme from Anambra State, was accused by JAMB of doctoring her result to gain recognition nationwide.

In a statement released by JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin on Sunday, the examination body  refuted that Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme has the highest score in this year JAMB noting that, her original score is 249 and not 362  as widely publicized.

Reacting to this development, Prof. John-Akubo, who is the current Vice Chancellor, Salem University Lokoja  said, all hands must be on deck to halt candidates manipulation of results in Nigeria.

"This development in regards to the outcome of the recently concluded JAMB is not a good image for the nations examination body and Nigeria as a nation. Am using this medium to call on the board to step up and nip the evil in the bud before it affects Nigeria educational standard" he advised.

Our Kogi Srare Correspondent, reports that the University Vice Chancellor, described the incident as a cankerworm that must not be allowed to cripple the Nigeria educational system, stressing that, higher institution should look beyond what they intend to get from prospective Students, but rather conduct thorough investigation to unravel any individuals who intends to enter higher Schools through dubious and suspicious means.
