Oborevwori, Ereyitomi, NEPZA, Tompolo, others, to participate in the 2nd Warri North Economic Summit


 

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Chief (Dr.) Thomas Ereyitomi, the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority, NEPZA, foremost Niger Delta Security Consultant and former militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and the Delta Special Economic Zones Management Company, are among critical stakeholders, expected to participate in the 2nd Edition of Warri North Economic Summit.

Convener of the summit, Mr. Omayeli Okotie, told Fresh Angle International, Monday July 3, that the summit with the theme; ‘Koko Free Trade Zone: Creating Opportunities For Economic Prosperity And Development’, scheduled for 10.00am Thursday August 3, will hold at KCMA Hall, Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State.

 

According to Mr. Okotie, the Member representing Warri North Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Fred Martins; Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Capt. Smart Yomi Asekutu, PDP Chieftain, Ms Orode Uduaghan; the Member representing Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality in the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon. Sunny Ofe; Immediate Past Chairman of DESOPADEC, Hon Michael Diden (Ejele) as well as traditional and political stakeholders, will grace the summit.

 

The Summit shall afford participants the opportunity of a town hall platform, to interact and interface with the Koko Host Community and other stakeholders.

 

This edition of the summit, will be chaired by the Executive Vice President of Conoil, Engr. (Chief) Oma Eyewuoma.

 

The Warri North Economic Summit, a private sector-driven platform for discussion of economic and development policies and programmes that drive economic growth in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, is organized annually by SIAF Consulting Limited, a company owned by Mr. Omayeli Okotie.

 

Recall that in his inaugural speech, Monday May 29, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon, Sheriff Oborevwori, stated inter-alia: “The recent approval of the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA) for Koko and Kwale is a welcome development, because this project has the capacity to unleash the growth potentials of the State. With the Board already in place, we shall immediately take steps to make it fully operational and attract investors to the zone."

 

The above statement by Governor Oborevwori, underscored the commitment of his administration, to support the kick-off of the Koko Free Trade Zone.

 

The Koko Free Trade Zone, was sponsored by the Delta State Government, covering a land size (hectares) of 2,327.29 and license was issued since 2009. Unfortunately, the status of the zone, according to NEPZA, is non-functional with "physical development yet to commence."

 

This Newspaper, understands that the Delta Special Economic Zones Management Company, accepted to participate in the summit.

 

The Delta Special Economic Zones Management Company, is a special purpose vehicle, created by the Delta State Government to attract investors and development to the two special economic zones of Kwale and Koko in Delta State.

 

The maiden Warri North Economic Summit, with the theme; ‘Boosting the Local Economy Through Oil and Gas, Tourism and Shipping’ was held Thursday March 24 and Friday March 25, 2022.
