Kogi Assembly gives Contractor eight weeks to renovate Complex

The contract for the renovation of the torched Kogi State House of Assembly Complex has been officially awarded by the State Government with the contractor charged to ensure quality work.

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly Yabagi Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement on Friday July 7.

Mohammed noted that the  Speaker, wRt. Aliyu Umar Yusuf while speaking at the ceremony charged the contractor not to exceed the official eight weeks quoted in the contract, noting that his leadership would not accept anything less than the best quality available.

He applauded the executive arm of Kogi State government under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello for marching his words with action, assuring that the Assembly would ensure quality legislation when the renovation work is completed.

The Speaker said the Assembly is poised to come up with quality laws that would improve the standard of the entire state, recalling that it was as a result of the fire incident of 10th  October 2022 that the complex became inhabitable for serious legislative business,  forcing the lawmakers to resort to the use of the Speaker's Official Lodge as venue of sittings.

Rt. Hon Yusuf specially applauded the Governor for following his words with action after he had assured the lawmakers that they would resume lawmaking business at the Assembly Complex when they resume from their recess.

He assured the executive arm of the cooperation of the Assembly, noting that it was necessary for the development of the entire state.
