The Campaign Office of Social Democratic Party, (SDP) Governorship Candidate Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, has been attacked by suspected hoodlums.
The incident happened in Lokoja at the early hours of Sunday.
The hoodlums, it was gathered stormed the opposition Party campaign secretariat, destroyed and burnt a billboard carrying President Ahmed Tinubu and Murtala Ajaka’s pictures, and further smashed glass windows of the office.
It was gathered that some group of individuals recently invaded the campaign office located along Paparanda Kpata market instructing the security on guard that they should remove the picture of President Bola Tinubu since he is not a member of SDP.
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the campaign office was previously donated by Alhaji Ajaka as the Presidential Campaign secretariat of the former Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, before it was eventually converted as the SDP governorship campaign office.
Recall that, the SDP Governorship candidate was a former Deputy Publicity Secretary of the rulling All Progressive Congress, (APC) before he resigned his membership of the party.
Confirming the incident, the SDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi, described the attack as unfortunate and unwarranted.
While noting that the destruction of the campaign office and billboard is not a criteria for winning election come November 11, the former People's Democratic Party, (PDP) Vice Chairman in Kogi stated that the party had received series of threat in the last one week.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the political mentor of my Principal Murtala Yakubu Ajaka and also President of the federal republic of Nigeria, we owe him that respect and that is why we have his pictures on our billboard irrespective of political party.” he said.
Abenemi however to their supporters to remain calm assuring that, they remain focused to rescue Kogi State from bad leadership.
