A total of 44 families of Police Officers in Kogi State, have been given cheques worth N32,767,784.86 on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the Police Officers’ families that received the cheques are relations of those that died in active service and others, who were involved in accident while carrying out their duty.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, made the disclosure in a statement released yesterday evening, Tuesday July 11.
Aya, stated that the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Akeem Yusuf, presented the cheques yesterday, on behalf of the Police authority.
The statement reads: “the gesture was part of the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident and IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme aimed at improving the welfare of the families of deceased Police Officers and to support Police Officers who became accident victim(s) while carrying out their duty.
"Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration; DCP Ajewole Joshua Adedayo who represented the Commissioner of Police during the presentation of Cheques to the affected Police officers and next of kins of the deceased Officers stated that the Police recognizes the impact of the deceased Officers and the Force will always support the Family".
While admonishing Police Officers, who are accident victims to keep up their good work, Aya, said the Commissioner of Police, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money, for the betterment of their families.
