Brainpals Code Academy launches Africa Teens Coding Club (AFTECC), calls for collaboration


 

Founder, Brainpals  Code Academy,  Mr. Famous Onyema, who runs a platform for grooming youths, teens and ICT enthusiast in tech-related careers has called for partnerships and collaborations amongst parents and relevant stakeholders as part of efforts to encourage the teens into pitching their careers in tech.
 
Mr. Onyema made the call at the official launch of Africa Teens Coding Club, (AFTECC) in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
 
Speaking on the coding club, he stated  that AFTECC is a platform for grooming teens in tech related careers and innovations through expert led sessions, mentorships, collaborations and conferences for a long period of time ( weekend and online)  in which parents get to pay only 50% of the actual cost while AFTECC partners pays the balance.
 
Onyema who reeled out the activities of the Academy to include; coding, programming, mentorship, boot campings,training sessions and certification noted that, the Academy is graduating not less than 45 teens in the 2023 Summer Bootcamp based on their area of interest. He said students were given internship positions and guidance to pitch ideas to investors and accelerators during this period,  so that they can also start earning in various currencies.
 
 
According to the founder,  teens has lots of potentials whether or not they intend to pursue an ICT related course, adding that, AFTECC will provide a platform to  help them become exportable with global in demand skills, and ideation through effective guidance.
 
" Today the Indian and Chinese tech eco system can be said to be sustainable because of thier meticulous plans to include the younger generation, he observed.
 
It might interest you to know that for the next one year on weekends and online basis all over Africa, we will be training teens alongside our partners  at 50% off the cost.
 
We will constantly seek for grants, scholarships and partnership not only to train them but make it as affordable as possible and hope to create a younger generation of innovators and innovations", Onyema said. 
 
One of the partners and Adviser of AFTECC, Dr. Temple Mwosu urged parents to keep investing in their teens, get the teens the required tools needed to make them better as well as  support the Academy to deliver on its mandate effectively .
 
High point of the event was presentation from resource persons, Yemi Balogun who spoke on the topic, "Young Tech Stars,  a Step in the Right Direction urged teens to leverage technology in there various career paths, award of Certificates to 45 students and a total of 6 Scholarships to the most outstanding students after thier presentations.
 
AFTECC believes Nigeria can get it right it starts working on the younger generation with the right partnership to help us make this available to all.
