Invasion of Ebenco, Toritsesan Nigeria Limited by Tantita, attempt to blackmail ‘Itsekiri owned’ companies – IYGG alleges

The Itsekiri Youths for Good Governance, IYGG, has alleged that the recent invasion of Ebenco and Toritsesan Nigeria Limited in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State, by operatives of Tantita Security Company, was an attempt to, “blackmail Itsekiri owned companies, carrying out legitimate business on Itsekiri soil.”

The allegation by IYGG, was contained in a press statement made available to Fresh Angle International, last night.

The group, in the statement signed by the chairman and secretary, Mone Oris and Engr. Gbesimi C. Okorodudu, respectively, averred: “The way and manner Tantita went about the operation only showed that the reason they have done what they did is to use the Itsekiri Nation as Canon folder to seek renewal of their surveillance contract.”

Whilst condemning the recent invasion of the premises of Ebenco and Toritsesan Nigeria Limited by men of Tantita security and, “the subsequent closure amidst media trial of both companies, IYGG, further alleged: “We commend Tantita for some of their feat to eradicate illegal bunkering, the operation in Koko is but an afront on the Itsekiri Nation, a disservice to humanity and an attempt to course another round of crises between Itsekiri people and the Ijaw.

“It is on record that both Messrs. Ebenco and Toritsesan are duly registered with the defunct DPR to carry out their business.

“The premises of Toritsesan particularly, has been shutdown for over a year, with no business taking place there prior to the award of surveillance contract to Tantita and no business is taking place till date. Because they owners Tantita security has vow to ensure all legitimate business operating in Itsekiri communities are closed down.

“We wish to admonish that Tantita should carry out their business without trying to destroy other people's business or attacking and blackmailing people based on their ethnicity. We are also aware that some individuals in Tantita security have vowed to use this surveillance contract to carry out illegal activities in Itsekiri community, oppression and blackmail of the good people of Itsekiri Nation.

“We advise that they retract their step from this war they are presently carrying out in Itsekiri community in the guise of crude oil surveillance.”
