Warri South Local Government Council Special Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Beautification, has beamed its searchlight on Ugbuwangue Market/the NPA Bypass along Ekurede Itsekiri, Ogunu Road by Ekurede-Urhobo and Estate Roundabout, in a fresh onslaught against arbitrary dumping of refuse on major roads and streets in Warri, by motorists and residents.

Chairman of the Warri South Local Government Council Special Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Beautification, Mr. Kenneth George, who made the disclosure in a telephone interview this afternoon, Thursday October 19, warned that motorists and residents caught disposing refuse along the roads, especially the medians, will face the full weight of the law.

George, a former Supervisor for Environment in Warri South Council, who was apparently piqued with the attitude of some residents of Warri, called on community leaders in the Oil-City, particularly leaders of Ugbuwangue, Ekurede-Itsekiri, Ekurede-Urhobo and Okumagba Estate area, to impress it on inhabitants of the aforesaid communities, on the imperative of patronizing authorized Private Sector Participators, PSPs in waste management, instead of disposing refuse indiscriminately.

Whilst thanking the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi for prompt release of fund for the taskforce to carry-out its mandate, Mr. Kenneth George, emphasized that the resolve to evacuate all illegal dump sites in Warri South Local Government Area and stop further dumping of refuse on such spots, was very much on course.
