A Paramount ruler in Kogi State, the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Dr. Ado Ibrahim has passed on.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that he died in the early hours of today, Sunday October 29, after a brief Illness.

 

It was gathered that, the prominent Monarch who died at the age of 95, will be buried according to Islamic rite.

 

The transited Ado Ibrahim, was coronated in 1997 as the Ohinoyi of Ebira land by the then the Governor of Kogi State, late Prince Abubakar Audu.

 

He took over from the his predecessor Alhaji Sanni Omolori who reigned between 1957 and 1997.

 

Born on February 7, 1929, late Ado Ibrahim attended both western nursery and Quranic schools, and went on to conclude his primary education in 1940 at the Native Authority (NA) primary school in Okene, Northern Region (now Kogi State).

 

He, began his secondary school education at Ondo Boys High School and later on moved to Oduduwa College, where he graduated in 1949.

 

In 1954, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a master’s degree from Harvard Business School in 1959.

 

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf has commiserated with the state government, Ebira Nation and Nigerians over the demise of the Ohinoyi of Ebira Land, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim. 

 

The Speaker, who stated this in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, described the death as a huge blow to the entire nation in view of the place of the Ohinoyi in national history. 

 

He noted that the deceased Royal Father was a man of peace, love, bravery and the definition of true royalty in modern times, noting that the state would miss his wisdom, tenacity and unifying disposition.

 

While sending his condolences to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, he also extended his message to the APC candidate in next month's gubernatorial election, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and other members of the state executive council.

 

He also used the opportunity to commiserate his colleagues at both the state and national assemblies from the central senatorial district, and prayed to Allah to grant His Royal Majesty eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.

 

Rt. Honourable Umar, who called on Nigerians to pray for the soul of the late royal, called on the family and loved ones to accept that death was the end of every mortal, and prayed to Allah to grant them fortitude to bear the loss.
