The People Democratic Party, (PDP) Youth Leader in Kogi State Honorable Oluwakayode Emmanuel Eseyin, has warned his party Governorship Candidate Senator Dino Melaye to refrain from heightening political tensions ahead of the November Governorship election in the State.
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Eseyin gave the warning in a statement issued to journalists on Friday Novemebr 3.
He implored Senator Melaye to desist from engaging in actions that could disrupt the state’s peace before, during, and after the election.
According to him, "This statement arises from Mr. Melaye’s recent press conference where he accused the state governor of sponsoring thuggery and leveled allegations against the state’s security agencies, which have been diligently working to ensure a peaceful election.
"His attempts to create a controversy are unnecessary. What is the source of his information that emboldens him to address the Nigerian public with such damaging allegations? Claiming that the outgoing government is supporting thugs to disrupt the upcoming elections is uncalled for.
"The allegations regarding police uniforms supposedly intended for certain officers appear to be a tactic to sow fear among the state’s residents and make them view the police as infiltrated.
"The scale of these allegations is absurd, and one might question the motives behind this kind of claim.
The PDP Youth Leader appealed to the Inspector General of Police to invites his party Governorship candidate to provide further clarification for these sudden allegations.
Continuing, Eseyin said " Even though we are an opposition party, there has been no mention of any form of attack on our candidate. Unfortunately, our candidate seems to be someone who cries both when he is being beaten and when he is doing the beating.
"Elections are not a matter of life or death, and spreading allegations of this magnitude will not benefit anyone. How can one claim to have a list of individuals targeted for assassination without providing clear evidence? Humanely speaking, this approach is inappropriate. At this juncture, I kindly request that all security agencies invite our candidate for questioning"
