Criminals masquerading as EFCC officials stab, rob victims at Asaba


Some group of men masquerading as Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have launched coordinated robbery on unsuspecting victims at Asaba, the Delta state capital, dispossessing them of the valuables.                                   

 

Our Asaba Correspondent, reports that sometime last week, the criminals operated around the popular Koka/ Ibusa areas of Asaba and shot sporadically in the night of Saturday November 18, causing fear among residents of the city.                    

 

A Source, who spoke in confidence, told Our Correspondent: "There are some group of men, impersonating with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC jacket to burgle into people's houses, rob them and even stabbed the victims.                                 

 

"On Saturday night, 18th November, same thing occurred again, this time it was gunshots throughout the night."                      

 

Another resident, who preferred anonymity for security reason, said: " I know some of the persons affected (victims of the robbery). A friend of one guy in my group, was a victim of the jacket wearing men, his phone was tracked to Benue state. Those men use spiritual power (Charms) in carrying out their operations."                        

 

According to the Source, the first operation by the gang took place at Koka, while the second one occurred in the night of Saturday November 18 at Summit axis, also in the state capital.                             

 

He added: "Recently, Hausas in the town, have been showing superiority to the extent they even fought some police officers and blocked the roads around Okpanam, in the name of prayers."
