Two Supervisors, disown reported vote-of-confidence passed on Warri North Chairman, Asekutu
Capt. Smart Yomi Asekutu

Two Supervisors in Warri North Local Government Council, Messrs Jacob Atirene, Supervisor for Health as well as Wilson Mene, Supervisor for Information and Special Duties, have disowned a publication which claimed that, “five Supervising (Supervisory) Councilors in Warri North Local Government Council, unanimously passed a vote-of-confidence on the Executive Chairman of the Council (LGA) Capt. Smart Yomi Asekutu.”

The controversial publication, had explained that the said vote-of-confidence, purportedly passed on Captain Asetuku, was based on, “uncommon developmental strides and demonstration of leadership capacity in carrying everyone along in the art of governance.”

The report, further stated inter-alia: “We are passing a vote of confidence on Capt. Asekutu, because Warri North has witnessed a great leap in Health and Educational infrastructural advancement with bold steps in poverty alleviation and employment opportunities for youths. Through his rare demonstration of sincerity of purpose and commitment to human welfare development, he has made himself the most sought-after political bride of Warri North as we have never had it so good.

“A communiqué issued was signed by the five Supervising Councilors, Mr. Jacob Atirene Supervising Councilor (Health) Mr. Blessing Edema (Agriculture) Wilson Mene (Information and special duties) Mr. John Ekpedure (Education) and Mrs. Eunice Tailor, (Environment) and made available to the media at the end of a closed-door meeting stressed that their decision to pass a vote of confidence on the Chairman is in acknowledgment of his detribalized nature in managing both the human and material resources of the council, as Warri North has witness equitable distribution of developmental projects which has foster peace and unity across the council.”

Messrs Jacob Atirene and Wilson Mene, while reacting to the publication during a telephone interview, alleged that Capt. Asekutu, in connivance with some Officials of Warri North Local Government Council, had been appropriating funds for the past 10months without Exco meeting, which ought to be attended by the Council Supervisors.

“Disregard any vote-of-confidence passed on the Executive Chairman Warri North Local Government, Hon. Smart Asekutu”, Atirene and Mene, declared.
