Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL), the Operator of the OML 30 Joint Venture between NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) and Shoreline Natural Resources Limited (SNRL) Joint Venture (NEPL/SNRL JV) has reiterated the need for the media to verify the accuracy of their reports before publishing same.
Sola Adebawo, General Manager, Government, Joint Ventures and External Relations, made this call while reacting to a media story alleging that two (2) Journalists were assaulted by military personnel while covering a purported protest by employees of HEOSL Contractors at one of their field operational facilities in Delta State, on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
He explains that the story is false. According to him, “This report attributing the incident to OML 30, is false in its entirety as HEOSL workers are not on strike and there has not been any report of an assault by members of the Government Security Forces posted to our operations.” “The reference to HEOSL and OML 30 in relation to this incident is misleading and irresponsible. It is the responsibility of the media to verify the accuracy of their reports before publishing same,” he says.
Sola Adebawo directs that any enquiry in respect of the purported incident be directed to the;
“Appropriate Operators of the neighbouring asset where employee protests might have taken place recently, as well as the military authorities who have direct command and control over their men and officers assigned to various work locations.”
The G.M., sues for restraint and respect for the rule of law in resolving all conflicts.
