Pipeline Surveillance: No job slot has been given to us by Tantita, Uwakeno community writes Tinubu

The people of Uwakeno Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, have written President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over perceived shut-out in the purported allotment of job slots by Tantita Security for the safe guard/protection of oil/gas pipelines in Uwakeno.

The Olare-Aja of Uwakeno Community, Pa. David Olumami Akiuyatsemi, Dr. Felix Omatseye, Mr. Joseph Mabamije and Mr. Emmanuel Afortan, on behalf of the community, said it would only be proper for Tantita Security Services to engage the Head of the Community and elders /stakeholders in respect of any job slots, to be given to the Community as regards the protection of crude oil pipeline in Uwakeno.

The Uwakeno leaders in the written through their Attorney, F.T. Egbe Esq,. (Principal Counsel) noted: “The Uwakeno Community, is an Oil producing Community, having various Oil wells and flow Station and are part of the OML-150 COMMUNITIES CONSULTATIVE FORUM, being a host Community to Con-Oil Producing Limited, amongst other companies in the area.

“One of our Client (Mr. Emmanuel Afortan) who is CWC/Trust Chairman of Uwakeno Community, is the current Vice Chairman of the OML-150 COMMUNITIES CONSULTATIVE FORUM, which appointments/Oath of Office amongst others in the FORUM was further Ratified by the Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwase III CFR via a document dated 21/01/22.

“We are well aware that the Federal Government of Nigeria has given your Company (Tantita Security services Nig Ltd) the contract of Pipeline Surveillance in the Warri South Local Government Area wherein our Community is situated, and several crude Oil pipelines passes through the Community together with different Oil wells also situated there.

“It would only be proper and in the good books of your Company (Tantita Security services Nig Ltd) that you engage the Head of the Community and elders /stakeholders in respect of any job slots to be given to the Community as it regards the protection of the Crude Oil Pipeline in their area (Uwakeno) and for them to guarantee/undertake for the protection/safeguard of the Pipeline in their area.

“Our Client are stating it emphatically here, that no job slots as it regards your Company (Tantita Security services Nig. Ltd) on the Crude Oil Pipeline surveillance has been given to the Uwakeno Community.

“Any purported job slots allegedly given to loyalists or friends do not in any way bind the Uwakeno Community and for further emphasis, the Uwakeno Community has no undertaken with your Company for any safeguard of crude Oil Pipeline in their area, as any purported document emanating from your Company to that effect, is null and void and of no effect whatsoever. You will agree with us, that the safeguard of Crude Oil Pipelines belonging to the Federal Government, should be one of collective interest of the Community in particular and the Nation in general and not for Loyalists and friends in this regard.

“It is on this premise, we write to His Excellency the Governor of the Delta State to inform the State Government about the happenings in the Uwakeno Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, as we would not want anything that would lead to the break-down of Law and Order in our Community or using any guise for the destruction of life and properties in the Community which had occurred in recent past.

“It would be in everyone’s interest and particularly that of your company (Tantita Security services Nig. Ltd) to do the proper thing and to engage with the proper constituted authority of the Uwakeno Community as represented by our Client in this regard.”

They copied the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwase III, The Inspector General of Police, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff and Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command.
