An Environmental Health Officer in the employ of Local Government Service Commission in Delta state, Mrs. Stella Mode, has commenced the clearing of water obstructing vehicular movement along the Uvwie Local Government axis of one of the lanes at the ever busy NPA Expressway.
Mrs. Mode, who began the exercise Saturday March 16 by mobilizing manpower for direct labour, said she embarked on the exercise as a result of the untold hardship motorists undergo daily whenever they ply the route, saying the stagnant water damages the road and vehicles.
According to her, the exercise was at advanced stage as at Sunday March 17, with over 8 weep holes out of the 13 targeted, already opened up and the stagnant water cleared off the road.
When Fresh Angle International visited the scene Sunday for on -the - spot assessment, motorists plying the route, stretching from the Chevron gate axis to the popular Bon Delta Hotel, expressed excitement with the development. Persons engaged for the exercise by Mrs. Mode, were seen clearing overgrown weeds and opening up drains along the median of the expressway.
Whilst assuring that the job will be rounded off Monday March 18, Mrs. Mode, who heads the Environment Department of one of the local government councils in the state, appreciated Mr. Ugborugbo Moses, Pastor Victor Ukuko and others who contributed financially towards the successful execution of the project.
