Lions from five states to congregate in Delta January 2017

No fewer than 600 Lions from District 404 A1 of Lions Club International across Edo, Delta, Ondo, Ogun and Lagos States, including the District Governor, Lion (Dr.) Ayodele Ajayi are expected to congregate in Warri, Delta State from January 19 through 22, 2017 for a convention tagged, “serving humanity with compassion,” Fresh Angle International has learned.

Chairperson of Effurun Warri District Convention 2017 (Region 9 of Lions Club International) Lion Fortune Wagbatsoma who made the disclosure to Our Correspondents during a get-together of members of the club, noted that the convention which will be the third to be held by the district will take place at the expansive Bridgeview Hotel & Suites, Ugbuwangue in Warri, Delta State.

According to Lion Wagbatsoma, events slated for the convention include seminar, trainings, parades round the twin cities of Warri and Effurun to create awareness on the activities of Lions Club International, particularly Region 9, plenary session as well as a banquet.

Speaking also, Region 9 Chairperson of Lions Club International, Lion Dora Adebayo noted that Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Chairman of Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema and Chief (Mrs.) Stella Otiotio Dabonor respectively as well as the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli and Ovie of Uvwie are among dignitaries expected as special guests.

Lion Adebayo who enumerated participation in Environmental cleanup/beautification of Warri and Effurun, health as well as education support programmes as some of the humanitarian contributions of Region 9 of LionsClub International towards the development of the area, disclosed that a peace poster contest was recently organized among six secondary schools in Warri South Local Government Area with the aim of getting the best Arts Student to represent the Region at the district contest.
