The Delta State Police Command in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, Nigerian Civil Defense Corp, NCDC and the Delta State Traffic Management Agency, DESTMA, have launched operation 'Free-Flow of Traffic' to ensure free movement of motorists throughout the yuletide period.
Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, said the exercise became necessary so as to curtail the unnecessary grid lock usually experienced by motorists and other road users throughout the yuletide season.
Our Delta North Correspondent reports that the CP who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Undie Adie, allayed fears of the motorists about the presence of soldiers in the head bridge, noting that the presence of the soldiers would collaborate with the FRSC Officers/Men including the Police to ensure that the highway is free of crimes and ensure a free flow of traffic ahead of the Christmas and New Year period.
According to him, “there is no cause for alarm. We the Police will collaborate with FRSC and Military to ensure hitch free crimes, and free flow of traffic ahead of the Christmas/New year season. I call on drivers to drive with cautious. I also want to advise the passengers to caution drivers against reckless driving."
Fresh Angle International investigations have revealed that miscreants including pick pockets who usually have illegal activities around the head bridge, have disappeared into the thin air. While road side traders, many of who allegedly sell Indian hemp to trailer drivers, have disappeared to avoid being arrested.
