The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, has disowned a document containing the outlines of a "proposed public notice of Election Time-table and schedule of activities for the 2024 Local Government Council General Elections", assuring that: “The authentic date for the conduct of the 2024 Local Government elections shall be officially announced soon.”
The said fake document was sighted by Fresh Angle International on social media platforms yesterday, Tuesday April 30 and was thought to be authentic, as a result of prominent political figures who circulated it, hence a report was crafted from it.
The Chairman of Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, Dr. R. J. A. Agbaike, in a statement released today, Wednesday May 1, noted: “The fake public notice, which has gone viral on numerous social media handles, is hereby refuted by the Commission and should be discountenanced in all its ramifications.
“We wish to inform the general public that the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission is yet to fix any date for the conduct of the 2024 Local Government Elections. The authentic date for the conduct of the 2024 Local Government elections shall be officially announced soon.”
