Warri South Chairmanship Controversy: It’s Esimaje Awani O' Clock, thank you Gov. Sheriff, protesters brandish placards

Supporters of Barr. Esimaje Awani, earlier today, Monday May 20, protested from the popular Eagle Roundabout, in Ogunu Road to Delta Broadcasting Service, Edjeba in Warri, brandishing placards, with inscriptions such as, it is "Esimaje Awani O' Clock", "thank you Gov. Sheriff, we love you", God's own mandate is sure", “Esimaje sure 4 Warri South", "Esimaje Awani Na real Warri Boy", “Esimaje Na Grassroot Politicians" and “Warri South is fully Awanified".

Our Principal Correspondent, who covered the protest, reports that the protesters demanded that Barr. Esimaje Awani, be adopted as the PDP Chairmanship candidate for Warri South Local Government Area in the July 13 Delta State Local Government election.

One of the prominent supporters of Barr. Awani, Chief Christian Bazunu, who spoke to newsmen at the gate of Delta Broadcasting Service, Warri, stated that if not for Barr. Esimaje Awani, nobody would have voted for PDP in Warri South in the 2023 polls.

Chief Bazunu, who said that Barr. Awani, mobilized market women and bought mobile phones for them, aside his “continued welfare for the people” in the build-up to the 2023 elections, commended: “Barr. Awani for his doggedness in promoting the PDP.”

He added: “Esimaje is the only Itsekiri man that has love for Urhobos in Warri and Delta State. If the PDP don't give him the ticket, it will be hard for PDP to win elections in Warri South.”

According to Chief Bazunu, those using Governor Oborevwori’s name to lie, don't mean well for the people of Warri, because most of them didn't win their units and wards for PDP in the last election.

“The governor said, he won't give the candidature of anyone in exchange for souvenir. We, the Esimaje Awani supporters voted massively for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2023 polls,” Chief Bazunu, averred.

Coordinator for Awanified and Chieftain of the PDP, Mr. David Odeli, who also addressed newsmen, stated that Esimaje Awani is the most qualified to emerge Warri South PDP chairmanship candidate, “because he's best trained and prepared for the job.”

Fresh Angle International, can report that Alhaji Bala Allahyakika and Fatimatu Umoru, were among prominent protesters that expressed their strong support for Barr. Awani.
