Clarify your relationship with Governor Alex Otti, Ohanaeze tells Peter Obi

Foremost Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has urged former Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, to clarify his relationship with Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, saying there are significant concerns about Mr. Obi’s relationship with the Abia governor.

Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who made the call in a statement sent to Fresh Angle International, this evening, Thursday June 27, noted: “The apparent rift between these two prominent figures, has not gone unnoticed by the discerning eyes of Nigerians and Ndigbo.”

Isiguzoro, emphasized: “It has been observed that Mr. Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate, has failed to make any official visits to Abia State, nor has he been included in the state's protocol lists for important events such as Governor Otti's one year in office celebration and the 25 years of democracy anniversary.

“This has led to speculation and suspicions of a strained relationship between Mr. Obi and Governor Otti, especially given Mr. Obi's lack of acknowledgment towards the Governor on these significant occasions.

“Furthermore, the recent actions of prominent figures such as Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Doyin Okupe have raised further questions about Mr. Peter Obi's political alliances and friendships.

“The sight of former President Obasanjo donning a cap with President Tinubu's political insignia and visiting First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has led to speculation that he may have shifted his support away from Mr. Obi.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is not oblivious to the changing political landscape, particularly in the South-West where Mr. Peter Obi's allies seem to be distancing themselves from him. The alliance talks and meetings with Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2027 have also raised eyebrows and cast doubts on Mr. Obi's standing within his political circles.

“It is imperative that Mr. Obi addresses the concerns and dispels any speculations regarding the alleged cold war between him and Governor Otti.

“The people of Nigeria and Ndigbo deserve honesty, transparency, and accountability from their leaders. It is essential that Mr. Obi comes forward and clarifies his position regarding the recent developments and rumors surrounding his political alliances and friendships. Failure to do so will only serve to sow further division and discord among the populace.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges Mr. Peter Obi to act swiftly and decisively in addressing these pressing matters. The future of our nation depends on the integrity and leadership of its political figures, and it is crucial that trust and confidence are maintained at all times.”
