Don't stoke fire by changing names of our communities under the guise of ward delineation -  Ugborodo youth chairman, Ejeh warns INEC

Chairman of Ugborodo Community Youths in Warri South - West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Wilson Ejeh, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC against " stoking fire by plotting to change the names of some Ugborodo federated communities under the guise of delineation of wards and units in Warri Federal Constituency."

Ejeh , who handed down the warning in a distress call to newsmen from Ugborodo, Friday July 12, alleged that for the past two days, some youths from a neighbouring community have been coming  to three Ugborodo federated communities; Kpoko, Saghara and Ijaghala, threatening the indigenous Itsekiris to vacate from the communities immediately or face violence and destruction.

The Ugborodo youth chairman, who claimed that the speed boats ferrying the armed youths to the Ugborodo communities, bear  the inscription of Tantita Security, alleged that the strange visitors were working with some officials of Independent National Electoral Commission " to change the names of Kpoko, Saghara and Ijaghala to Ijaw names, to suit the land grabbing appetite of a certain ethnic war lord."

Whilst stressing that Ugborodo Indigenes and the entire Itsekiri Nation, will not accept change of the names of its communities on the pretext of wards and units delineation, Ejeh, sounded: " No individual, group or ethnic Nationality, has the monopoly of violence.

" If the award of Pipeline Surveillance contract by the NNPCL to any Indigenous security company, is to forcefully take over the legitimate and historical communities of neighbouring tribe ( s) particularly Ugborodo communities, then the federal government, should immediately order NNPCL to terminate the contract."

He called on the Federal and Delta state governments to direct INEC to respect the constitutional and historical names of Ugborodo communities, in " the Commission's desperation to conduct delineation of wards and units in Warri Federal Constituency."

Ejeh, asked" are the invaders of Ugborodo federated communities telling us that their motive of surreptitiously going to the Supreme Court to obtain judgement, which directed  INEC to delineate wards and units in Warri Federal Constituency, is to forcefully take over Ugborodo communities?"
