A group in Osun State, the Association of Brave Women has cautioned lecturers in higher institutions of learning in the country to desist from harassing female students or face the wrath of the women.

The President of the Association, Evangelist Maltida Farinde said this while addressing students of Osun State University, UNIOSUN at the main campus of the institution in Osogbo, Osun State.

Farinde said “We are using this opportunity to appeal to the male lecturers to please treat our female students like their own daughters, they should always remember the law of karma.”

She also warned female students not to tempt the male lecturers with skimpy dresses and admonished the male students to shun cultism and internet fraud known as “Yahoo-Yahoo”.

According to her, “My dear students remember the sons and daughters of whom you are, your destiny lies in your hands. God will preserve you for us, you will not die prematurely, and you will succeed in Jesus Name.”

She explained that the association was set up to rise in defense of children against any form of harassment, campaign against child abuse and eradicate poverty among the women.

Farinde added that the association would always wade in to ensure amicable and peaceful settlement whenever there is a crisis between students and the constituted authorities at any level.

She condemned the action of the Policemen that shot some students of UNIOSUN recently and assured that the association would pursue the case to logical conclusion so that the culprits would not go unpunished

“I sympathize with the management of this institution, the concerned parents and guardians and the students on the recent illegal action of the unscrupulous law enforcement agent that shot and wounded some students of UNIOSUN. Such action is not only irrational, it is crazy and barbaric. We completely kick against it. As mothers, we are interested in this case, and we have taken necessary action on it. We shall fight it and make sure that the culprits are brought to book to serve as deterrent, she noted”.

While advising the students to face their studies, Farinde said “the only valuable legacy that your parents could bequeath to you is education and that was why they sent you to the university. I hereby appeal you to face your studies squarely, you are our hope for tomorrow, you are the future of Nigeria, don’t digress, don't derail, the only thing that can make you relevant in life is education. Please, don't joke with it. My dear students, please whenever there is a misunderstanding between you and the constituted authority, don't be violent because violence is not the solution to any problem and it can never be”.
