There was wild jubilation in Warri, Delta State, Monday August 19, as the Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III and his subjects, began the 3rd coronation anniversary celebration of the Monarch, with praises to God Almighty.

Fresh Angle International, can report that the annual praise day celebration, which held at Palace (Aghofen) of the Olu of Warri, began with gospel singers, thrilling the elegantly dressed guests.

The auditorium, was filled to capacity, leaving some of the Iwere sons and daughters, who attended the ceremony, to flow with the service outside the main auditorium.

Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri Kingdom to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, in a chat with Our Correspondent, expressed happiness, saying: “I feel elated. I feel happy. Off course, butterflies in our stomach. Everybody is happy. The town is agog. Pomp and pageantry everywhere. Today is actually the praise and worship day in honour of our God, who created the heaven and the earth and the Itsekiris are known to worship God."

While noting that the Olu of Warri, is a Christian King, Edema, said: "We are here with him to praise and thank God. 

“For three (3) years, the kingdom has risen from what it used to be to where we want it to be."

Edema, on behalf of his family, also wished the monarch, good health and long life, praying God Almighty to preserve the King’s life and keep him in good health as well as make him reign beyond fifty (50) years on the throne. 

While calling on Itsekiris worldwide to be more united and rally round the Olu to move Itsekiri Nation forward, Edema, added that the Warri Monarch commenced an empowerment programme recently, to the benefit of Iwere Nation.

He explained that the empowerment programme was targeted at cushioning the economic hardship in the country, particularly as it affects Itsekiri Nation and pleaded with those yet to be enlisted in the programme, to be patient.

The Olu of Warri’s Sole Rep to NNPCL, said the Itsekiri have large land mass and water mass, but the people in the riverine communities, buy fuel costlier at the rate of one thousand, five hundred naira (?1,500) per litre as against the seven hundred naira (?700) people buy in the upland land.
