The Olare-Aja of Ifie-kporo Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Pa George Mogbeyiteren, has made a U-tern on the allegation of signature forgery against the Council of Elders and the Trust Executive of the Community under the leadership of Dr. Monday Agbeyi in a video and report published in the online platform of a Warri based Newspaper, Fresh Angle International.

The Olare-Aja of the Community retracted the allegation when members of the Council of Elders of the community who were taken aback by the baseless allegation, decided to visit the Olare-Aja at his residence in Obodo Community to confront him with the allegation where he claimed that his signature was forged on two documents by the Council of Elders.

Narrating the sequence of event, the younger brother of the Olare-Aja Mr Felix Mogbeyiteren, who is also a member of the Council of Elders of Ifie-Kporo Community, said the Olare-Aja, Pa George Mogbeyiteren, was well carried along in the process of constituting the Community Trust Committee of the Community under the leadership of Dr Monday Agbeyi, including the event of their swearing-in that took place in the community town hall (Ogwa Ejoki) in the presence of chiefs from the Palace of the Olu of Warri, who represented His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, and members of the community among others, but was unable to attend because of his current health state.

He revealed that, he personally met some of the elders in Pa Mogbeyiteren’s house when they came with the document containing their resolutions on the vacant position of the unofficial Secretary to the Olare-Aja, which was on the verge of causing serious chaos and anarchy in the community, for his endorsement and signature, noting that he had to tell them to drop the document with the Olare-Aja for him to take his time before signing.

He revealed further that he then had to call the eldest son of Pa Mogbeyiteren, Mr Henry Mogbeyiteren and his aunty who lives in the village with the Olare-Aja, and that, they were all witnesses to the signing of the document by the Olare-Aja, Pa Mogbeyiteren, wondering why he would allow one or two mischief makers who meant no good for the community to deceive him to say otherwise.

When confronted with the same documents he reportedly claimed his signature was forged on, the Olare-Aja Pa George Mogbeyiteren, who did not controvert the narrative of his younger brother, agreed that the signatures in both documents are his, and that he personally signed them.

Pa George Mogbeyiteren, noted that it was when it became clear that the community was on the verge of sliding into lawlessness and anarchy, the Council of Elders which he is the head, had to take those resolutions which he personally endorsed and signed.

Other members of the Council of Elders of Ifie-Kporo Community who spoke including Pa Jala Nami and Mr Francis Eyefoma noted that the unofficial position of the secretary to the Olare-Aja, is one not recognised by Ifie-Kporo community structure of the Council of Elders, emphasising that the allegation of the Olare-Aja which was teleguided against the Council of Elders and Trust Committee, was baseless, as same has been confirmed by the Olare-Aja Pa George Mogbeyiteren himself, not to be the true position of things.

On his part, the eldest son of the Olare-Aja, Mr Henry Mogbeyiteren confirmed the narrative, the receipt of the documents and signing of same by his father.

They urged members of the community and the general public to be careful of misguided and disgruntle elements who are always in the business of seeking avenues of exploiting the gullible and fanning the embers of discord for their personal interest, appealing to members of the community to remain united, maintain peaceful dispositions and law abiding for the collective growth and development of the community.
