Delta State Police Command, Asaba has warned individuals and groups in the State against embarking on the planned solidarity marches both for and against the immediate past Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan.
Reports say the protests whose mobilization have been going on in social media, is slated for Monday February 27 in major towns of Delta State such as Asaba, Ughelli, Sapele and Warri.
Arising from a strategic meeting held Thursday February 23, the State Police Command management team noted that although every Nigerian has the fundamental right of freedom of expression as enshrined in the Constitution, there was need to prevent the planned protest.
According a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP. ANIAMAKA ANDREW, available and credible intelligence reports would do an incalculable harm to individuals, groups, the State and the Nation at large.
The Command appealed to all Deltans to explore all peaceful and other well-known result-oriented measures towards realizing their aspirations and called for understanding, mature reasoning as well as support for the Police and other Security Agencies in their quest to make Delta safe and secure.
