OMO Foundation Commissions Water Projects in Delta to Commemorate 5th Anniversary

To commemorate its 5th anniversary the OMO Foundation through its founder Dr. Oritsegbegbemi Ojo-Ede has commissioned three newly constructed boreholes at Koko community in Warri North local government area in Delta State to commemorate its 5th.

The project, which includes 6 water storage tanks, three generator sets and three water pumping machines was celebrated with an official commissioning ceremony on Friday 22 November 2024. 

In his address, the founder of OMO Foundation Dr. Oritsegbegbemi Maurice Ojo-Ede described the project as a significant achievement that tackles the challenges of the community 

"This water project is one of our proudest achievements. The commissioning of three borehole projects today marks a significant step toward providing clean, safe water to communities.

" Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and through these projects, we are ensuring that thousands of families no longer have to walk miles to fetch water from unsafe sources.

These boreholes represent not only a source of life but also a symbol of hope and resilience for the communities we serve. 

"The impact of these projects will be felt for generations to come, as clean water is vital for improving health, he said”

He highlighted some of the key achievements of the foundation for the last five years as, community development of over 5000 youths through skills training and employment. In education, renovation of schools and provision of scholarships to indigent youths. 

The water project

In health, the foundation provided free maternal medical services in rural areas as well as provision of water in our communities.

In his remark, the Delta State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, (PDP) Chief Solomon Areyenka commended the founder of OMO Foundation for the laudable project, noting that the project is inline with Delta State government MORE Agenda. 

“For this Foundation to commission three boreholes in Koko is a laudable achievement. We will ensure the state government recognizes and supports this efforts, he said.”

In the same vein the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council, Hon. Festus Ashima praised OMO foundation for its significant contributions to the community.

He said “we celebrate the completion of three (3) water projects, which will benefit several households and a sizable number of individuals in Koko community. These projects are a testament to the power of partnership and collaboration between government NGOs and local communities.

He assured the foundation that the projects will be sustained and maintained to ensure longevity while urging the benefiting communities to take ownership of these projects and ensure their proper use and maintenance. 

Our Senior Roving Correspondent, reports that top government dignitaries, including the Delta state Chairman of PDP Chief Solomon Areyenka, the Commissioner for Youths. Hon ThankGod Trakiriwei, Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council Hon. Festus Ashima among others attended the ceremony in Koko.
