PDP suffers further deflation, loses six lawmakers to APC

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has suffered further deflation as six lawmakers elected under its platform during the 2015 legislative election in Kogi State have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.

The defected lawmakers blamed their action on the factionalisation of the PDP, both at the National and State levels.

Reading the letter on the floor of the Hallow Chamber at exactly 12:30pm Thursday March 16, Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Imam said the members who have decided to join the APC are: John Abba (Ibaji Constituency) Adoke Bello (Adavi Constituency) Mathew Kolawole (Kabba Bunu Constituency) Ahmed Mohammed ( Ankpa 1 Constituency) Victor Omofaye  (Ijumu Constituency) and Kekere abdulkareem  ( Okehi Constituency).

In the letter signed by the six lawmakers, they explained “instructively, the existence of such divisive factions within the party for over 10 months have left us uncomfortable politically and subsequently, rendered us neophytic for effective and people driven representation of our various constituents”.

Reacting to the development, the member representing Igalamela-Odolu Constituency in the State Legislature, Hon. Friday Sani (PDP) averred that the PDP will declare the seats of the defectors vacant in line with the constitution.

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that following the latest defection, the remaining PDP members in the 25 seats’ House are: Aliyu Aku (Omala Constituency) Godwin Osiyi (Ogorimagongo Constituency) Friday Sanni (Igalamela Constituency) Do Friday Alih (Ofu Constituency) and Sunday Shigaba ( Bassa Constituency).
